Shocking Truth About Who Actually Owns Real Estate Photos

What Every Realtor Needs to Know About Photo Usage Rights

In the fast-paced world of real estate marketing in Kingston, Ontario, understanding photo usage rights is crucial for realtors. At She Shoots Inc., we take pride in delivering high-quality images to help you market your property listings. However, it’s essential to understand how our real estate photography rights work so you can make the most of your marketing while staying within our terms of service.

Temporary Photo Usage Rights

When you purchase real estate photos from us, you are granted temporary usage rights. These rights allow you to use the images for unlimited print and web marketing—but only while the property is listed. Once the property is sold, or you’re no longer the listing agent, the rights are withdrawn. Realtors can still use the images for Just Sold posts, listing presentations, or personal marketing, but they can’t be passed on to third parties like stagers, designers, or other agents.

Why Are These Restrictions Important?

We provide professional real estate photography at a reduced rate for realtors in the Kingston area, and these rights help protect the value of that work. Allowing others to use the images without our consent dilutes the quality of our service and violates the terms. Keeping rights non-transferable ensures you and your clients are always covered, and the work stays protected. For more information on copyright law, visit Canada’s Copyright Act.

What Realtors Can and Can’t Do with Photos

You can use the images to market your property across print and digital platforms during the active listing. However, you can’t share, sell, or give away the images to builders, team members, or other third parties. If you’re working with a builder or another party, we’re happy to discuss unique licensing arrangements.

The Bottom Line

Understanding photo usage rights keeps everything running smoothly and ensures the images represent your brand without any issues. If you have any questions about usage, check out our Terms of Service  or reach out to us at She Shoots Inc.—we’re always here to help.
